Captain EO returns to Disney World July 2nd

Yes, you read right…the classic 3-D film experience “Captain EO” is coming back to Walt Disney World Resortthis summer just months after it reopened to rave reviews at Disneyland park. The 17-minute musical space-fantasy adventure film is now scheduled to begin at Epcot on July 2.

I remember enjoying “Captain EO” during its original run at Epcot from 1986 -1994. But for some of you, it’ll be a new experience. The film features Michael Jackson as “Captain EO” and a crew of Disney-created space characters. During their journey, the group uses the power of dance, light and music to turn a colorless planet into a world of color and happiness.

And there’s more. “Captain EO” will be returning to other Disney Parks locations. It’s scheduled to open at Tokyo Disneyland on June 30 and Disneyland Paris on June 12. We’ll have more details on the film’s return to Walt Disney World in upcoming weeks but we wanted Disney Parks Blog

Captain EO Re-Opening

Hey guys, as most of you know, Captain EO re-opened early this morning at Tomorrowland! We got some photos from around the web of the event, so check them out!

Lines weren’t too bad today. The longest approximate waiting time in the prime of the day was around 40 minutes.

The crowded up and down streets of Tomorrowland, with the barren PeopleMover track sticking out and the planets facade in the distance.

Cute kids dressed as the King of Pop were eager to see Michael Jackson’s return to the Magic Eye Theater.

Renee Colette was a dancer in the original EO film, was here to witness the event.

Debbie Lee Carrington started as ‘Idy’ in EO as well.

500 or so Fans poured into the theater at around 10 AM for the first showing of the Tribute.

Excited and pumped to watch the returning classic!

The film is over, and the audience fairly enjoyed it, as they clapped heavily when the lights turned back on.

Captain EO Returns Tomorrow / Merchandise Announced!

Well everyone I hope you are all very excited for the return of Captain EO tomorrow! But today the Disneyland Twitter Account shared some exciting news (that they previously said they would) that new Captain EO Merchandise will launch with the re-opening of the Attraction!

The site lists these specific items:

Now that last item at the bottom really sort of caught my eye. ‘mid-March!’ it says, so we can at least assure that EO will last a month at Disneyland!

Well, this is exciting, especially for EO Fans! Hopefully we can buy some of this swag online, but if not, I’m sure somebody will haul some stuff on eBay.
